Black and white photographs are best when they emphasize conceptual substance and conceptual properties.. where colour would subtract from, distract from, or not add to the picture. The sky here is far stronger, of course, metallic and emotionally heavy. The meadow is so dead and sad - lifeless and nothing. It was such a happy picture in color.

It depends on what you want from it. Aesthetics are the silliest way to judge the value of art, because then the art becomes just a cold and meaningless race to wasted time for literally no worthwhile reason.

Personally I prefer the colour photo.
